Spalted Beech Contemporary Windsor Chair
Made using Spalted beech and Ash sourced from here in the UK. This contemporary Windsor reading chair has been meticulously shaped by hand to create a piece both stunning and comfortable in equal measures. It is a one of a kind and cannot be recreated exactly due to the nature of the spalting. This occurs when a fungus gets into the tree and leaves territorial markings as it feeds. If left to the natural cycle the tree would return to the forrest floor but if felled at the right time the timber is still structurally sound but now boasts these beautiful patterns.
In addition to the spalted beech Patrick has used native ash which has been ebonised to create a dramatic contrast. As is with a lot of Patrick’s furniture he uses his signature eyelet stretcher which adds another unique element to the chair. It is finished in a hard wax oil for a long life.
